This album is a celebration of the 50-year career of master djemb?-player Adama Dram?. Already as a young child he decided that the djemb? was his destiny. Looking back those 50 years, he made this album called Dakan, meaning ?destiny?. He wanted it to be resolutely modern and outward-looking. His vision of mandingo percussion goes beyond the grand tradition, and so his djemb? becomes the carrier of universal messages.
