info

A Deluxe edition (2CDs & book) as a tribute album dedicated to Pannonica by Koenigswarter, protector, friend, confidant of everything that mattered in the jazzmen's world in the 50s and 60s in New York. In homage to this great lady, several jazzmen composed music, like Thelonious Monk, Gigi Gryce, Horace Silver and many more. Thus we find in this album Nica's Dream, Pannonica, Nica's Tempo, Thelonica, Nicaragua... So many titles dedicated to Pannonica and performed by Thelonious Monk, Les Jazz Messengers, Tommy Flanagan,... Note the unpublished photo of Pannonica illustrating the cover, and the original recording of Pannonica's voice featuring most of the titles and musicians in the album. The 20-page booklet written by Yann Portail in French and English retraces Pannonica's extraordinary journey; it is largely illustrated with jazzmen's photos taken by Pannonica.
