Balimaya was formed in 2019 by Yahael Camara Onono, this ten piece band of very well known and celebrated musicians based in London, have come together to create a super group using traditional repetoire and influences of the mande peoples from Mali Senegal and the Ivory Coast and jazz fusion to create an eclectic and exciting style of music that is soul stirring and steeped in folklore. Balimaya was created to portray its heritage and identity through the medium of music. The band members and the influences they bring to the project each represent the link between West Africa and the diaspora.
