This project shows the richness of the sound environment in which David Linx grew up. For his father, Elias Gistelinck, founder of the legendary Middelheim Jazz Festival in Belgium (Antwerp), a great composer and a quiet force alongside artists like Jeanne Lee and Ran Blake, Astor Piazzolla, Leo Ferre and Sonny Rollins, there was good and bad music, regardless of musical styles and genres. David always understood that his style had to be independent of the style he sang or played, or rather, that the style in all its expression had to be his first. In this context an artist becomes political by his positioning, his energy and joy, his decision and excellence beyond any technical dexterity. In the end it is all a question of rhythm.
