Petra Poutanen is a musician and a composer working both solo and with choirs, in addition to doing theater productions and playing in various ensembles and projects. She has been described as an earthquake, big bang, hypnotising, insightful and original. Her background in music is broad and her music speaks out. She gets excited from an interesting perspective, that is why she sees genres as tools just as instruments. This debut solo album 'Pyha Veri Vuotaa' contains folk music with a very modern twist and influences from around the world. Tansanian rhythms meet runosinging and live electronics meet techniques of throat singing. The thread tying everything together is the concept of the sacred, including showing how the sacred sometimes turns into something quite absurd or brutal. Sacred is a tool of using power, it is political and it has a strong personal level.
