It seems that years ago, Gianmaria Testa was literally pushed onto the stage because he was too shy to perform. Fortunately, because otherwise his wonderful mix of acoustic jazz, folk and poetry might never have come to light. He was from Cuneo, the place where he grew up and taught himself to play the guitar. For about twenty-five years, he worked as a stationmaster in the same town. In the quiet moments of his work, he wrote his songs there. It wasn't until 2005, more than ten years after his first released album, that he stopped working at the station. Not because he didn't like it anymore, but simply because the stage had become his new home.
