Venezuelan popular music shows the influence of three cultures: aboriginal Indian, Spanish and African. The joropo, a type of music and dance associated with the great llanos grasslands of Venezuela and dating back to the early eighteenth century, is performed mainly on the harp, cuarto and bandola. This live recording provides some fine examples of such music.
