Claudia Aurora has named her second album ?Mulher do Norte?, woman of the north. Although this may refer to the city of Porto, where she originally comes from and not the home town of fado Lisbon, this may as well refer to the place where she moved more than 10 years ago: the UK. This is where she started singing fado, first as an antidote against homesickness in her own kitchen; later, her first album just a few months old, at Womad in 2012, and many other concerts. Aurora writes her own songs, songs of saudade, of loss, love and longing. The emotion she communicates is not blue, necessarily, but visceral. A melancholic ecstasy, a life forever lived, no matter where her home.
