This album came forth from a meeting of Alain Genty and the Scottish singer Joanne McIver. Joanne McIver is a native of Arran Island, west of Glasgow, home to several songs. Some songs are interpreted in Gaelic. The departure for distant fishing is the subject. The ocean: light and space, in all its immensity, its dangers; The nostalgia of the sweet childhood summers on the beach; The call of the native island; The songs of work on the port ... But also the history of Scotland (on the title "Culloden"), relative to the ultimate battle against the English. These are the main themes of this album, united by some instrumental "entremers". |
