Ronka, Artturi / Daniel Sommer - Varo

The award-winning composer-pianist Artturi Ronka, who has written for the repertoire of the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra and many other orchestras, and the brilliant Danish drummer Daniel Sommer released their co-recording VARO. Ronka and Sommer are supported on the album by Estonian bassist Heikko Remmel and trombonist Kasperi Sarikoski as a guest soloist. With the exception of Sornainen, all the songs on the album are written by Ronka and showcase the more intimate side of the pianist's compositions, who mostly composes for large ensembles.
