Lydian Sound Orchestra - No More Wrong Mistakes (This is Our Music), an album that is based on different tonal/modal centres. The recording project, produced by Andrea Cutillo, sees the collaboration of Californian tenorist David Murray, who has been working with the Lydian Sound Orchestra for years, within which he has found a common territory to work on, marked above all by a repertoire that is in some way linked to the historical free but, naturally, revised according to the Lydian sound. The twelve tracks that make up the album were recorded at Lydian Sound Orchestra concerts at the Casa del Jazz in Rome and range from rearranged pieces by the sacred giants of jazz, Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, to Ornette Coleman, Eric Dolphy and Herbie Nichols, as well as Joseph Jarman and Butch Morris and pieces from the orchestra's repertoire. |
