Astrakan Project was initiated as a duo project: Simone Alves (vocals and Yann Gourvil (strings and programming). Not Bretons themselves but intensely living Breton culture, this is the starting point, but not the finish. Having lived in Istanbul for some years, Middle Eastern sounds and instruments are absorbed in their music. Astrakan project B is where ancient Breton legends magically merge with soulful and dark rock energy. Reviving ancient laments from Brittany, Simone?s voice is mesmerizing and Yann?s skills on various instruments are amazing.
