TAMA TAMA is the name of the first album from Masara Traor? and the first project from the African music label Slow Walk Music.
Masara Traor? is an artist from Burkina Faso who got her first performing experience as a dancer. Later, she decides to become a singer and composer working with traditional music from her culture after 10 years in Barcelona.
In 2010 Masara gets together with two experienced professional musicians from Mali: Adama Kone (kamele N?goni/Mali), and Kalildaf Sangare (electric guitar/Mali). Together they start to arrange Masara?s songs based on traditional Bambara and Mandinga rhythms.
?Papa? Orbe Ortiz (Bass-Production/Cuba) convinces them to go into the studio to record with Marco Testai doing sound. They round out the formation with Omar Diadji (drums/Senegal), Sengane Ngom (djemb?/Senegal), Baba Maiga (Shekere/Mali), Tene Nignan (Vocals/Burkina Faso) and Marta Casado (Vocals/Barcelona), recording a rootsy folkloric album with a current sound. Fernando Redondo ?Dinky? later takes charge of mixing and final production.
Masara Traor??s music is the vehicle that transports us to deep Africa, full of messages and traditions. The first song, Dankam Oumou Sangar?, pays homage to one of the divas of African music and an old friend of Masara?s: Oumou Sangar?, also knows for her feminist activism.
