'Standing on the Shore' is the continuation of the recordings of the group Offshore around the late guitarist Jacques Pellen and follows the album Shorewards (PPR 23). There is jazz here, but first and foremost improvisational and accurate music. A high-flying concert in which guitarist Jacques Pellen, drummer Karim Ziad, bassist Etienne Callac and flutist Sylvain Barou talk to each other freely. An exchange nourished by the chandeliers of individual experiences, of fusion with other music, an opening that unites the four friends, all fuelled for so long by this obsessive desire to go and see, listen, being elsewhere. |
