Founder member of Aquarela, oboe and cor anglais player, virtuoso improviser, Jean-Luc "Oboman" Fillon wanted to satisfy his craving for Brazilian music and its wild rhythms. He chose two remarkable Brazilian virtuosos to share this musical adventure: Edu Miranda (10-string mandolin) and Tuniko Goulart (7-string Brazilian guitar). After the success of their first two albums, ?Choros do Brazil? and ?Outros Choros do Brazil?, they did it again with a colourful new album for which Oboman decided to add the marvellous percussionist Z? Luis Nascimento to the trio. The result is festive and exhilarating, especially in the sinuous complexity of the most dizzying pieces, where the intelligent virtuosity of oboe and mandolin find perfect union. Choro, born at the end of the 19th century in Rio de Janeiro, is essentially an instrumental music in the oral tradition. This is the soul of Brazilian music. Here, choro mixes with jazz in a creative freedom that is as surprising as it is joyful?
