The Round Trip is a record created by percussionist Cesare Pastanella with his Afrodiaspora quartet. It narrates a musical round trip, a multifaceted and polychrome path that tells in music the journey of African slaves, deported to America in past centuries as a labor force, and the return in the form of African-American culture to the continent of origin. An event as unworthy for humanity as it is fundamental in the history of music, for the amount of Creole culture and music it has generated, expressed through styles such as Colombian cumbia, Peruvian vals, Afro-Cuban jazz, Brazilian samba, Cape Verdean morna, funky and North American rhythm and blues, sung in languages with harmonious and sinuous sounds, Spanish, English, Creole, Malink?, Bambara and Yoruba. |
