Born in 1977 in La Paz to Colombian and English parents, Leonardo Montana grew up between Bahia in Brazil and Guadeloupe where he was introduced to jazz. He studied in the jazz department of the CNSM in Paris and made a name for himself in drummer Anne Paceo's group Yokai. With a fiery lyricism and great rhythmic ease, he performs with the singer Agathe Iracema, the Cuban saxophonist Irving Acao and has recorded a remarkable album as a duo with the double bass player Felipe Cabrera, among many other collaborations. A jazz globetrotter, he is a pianist and composer of rare finesse, rhythm and lyricism. He delivers acoustic jazz of exceptional quality. And now he releases his piano solo album! |
