Stine Michel puts music to the renowned Danish poet, Inger Christensen's collection of poems 'Sommerfugledalen' (Butterfly Valley) in a genre hybrid of pop, folk and world music. An urge to interpret the poems musically lies in that her childhood home was surrounded by meadows, fields and bogs, and she early developed an understanding of nature's inevitable cycle between life and death, which is also central to both Inger Christensen's butterfly sonatas and Stine Michel's interpretation of them. Stine Michel already felt like a child connected to nature, and it gave her a grounding that made her relax. A feeling that she could reflect on when she as an adult began to read Inger Christensen's 'Sommerfugledalen'. |
