Dimitris Mystakidis is a famous Greek folk (rebetiko) guitar player, who jointed forces with the great majority of Greek artists. Eight years after his last release ?16 Rembetika Songs for Guitar?, Mystakidis returns with a collection of songs mainly from the postwar period. Drawing upon folk guitar techniques, his aspiration is to unveil the instrument?s capacity and expressive autonomy. These elements are both particularly manifested in the songs originally written for bouzouki. Sixteen outstanding performers, each of them with a unique career in Greek music, lend their brilliance to a shared vision and come together through a common language. A lyrical Esperanto where musical notes take the place of words. |
