Vashtan is a ceremonial dance in which the lover goes out to welcome the beloved. Here the lover starts with the music of Khorasan and proceeds to Fars and Azerbaijan and then returns to finalize his pilgrimage by dancing around the beloved. The dance symbolizes the desire to unite with your lost half, your beloved. This has led to generate a new musical expression which is both concealing and revealing, illustrating the existential and spiritual unity of the lover and the beloved.
