Originating from Tsingtao in Northeast China, Wang Li now lives in Paris. He plays the jaw's harp as well as the gourd flute, a surprising ancestor of the Chinese sheng, made from a gourd used as a resonator and bambou pipes for playing and drone. Traditional and avant-garde techniques, improvisation, breath and vibrations, memories and visions, the resonances of his imagination are both intimate and universal. Past, present and future is his second solo album.
