Korean pianist Heo Daeuk was born into a family of musicians and spent six years in Europe during his youth, where he became a great admirer of Ravel and Debussy; he also discovered, by studying them, the bridges between their music and jazz. After a first album of modern jazz released in Korea, Heo, accompanied by the excellent Alexis Coutureau on double bass and Kevin Lucchetti on drums, offers us in Sherpa original compositions that delicately and subtly express the fusion of jazz and Asia. Note the luminous presence on a track of the singer Youn Sun Nah who supports the young pianist.... |
