All seemed possible in Burkina Faso. It sounded like a fairy tale too good to be true. October 2014 the people had kicked out long time president Compaor? after he had declared he wanted to stay for a third turn. New democatric elections were set up for October 11, 2015. Now with the elections approaching a military coup hit the country on the evening of September 16th. In the midst of it all: Smockey ? activist, rapper and spokesperson of ?Le Balail Citoyen, a youth movement for a better Burkina Faso ? was about to release this album on election day October 11. Now it just seems witness of an episode in history to be continued. This album brings together songs written by Smockey during and before the uprising in Burkina Faso. He has been campaigning for fair elections and a better future for his country. His critical songs are just one way of doing this.
