Like a Po' Boy, the traditional Louisiana sandwich mixing meat and shellfish, land and sea, two generations of jazz musicians mix and form the band Laurent Vigneron & The Po' Boys. The band, playing a mix of blues, rock'n'roll and jazz, added with folks and creole influences, release their first album 'Ciribiribin'. At the start, Laurent Vigneron called on his Big Noise band mate, Max Malkomes. The drummer and the double bass player are two younger jazzmusicians: Mathieu Najean on saxophone and Florent Youth on guitar. Martin Mereau on vibraphone and Timothe Le Maire on trombone join them on four tracks of the album. The band draws its sound from Afro-American jazz and is inspired by calypso and 50's rock'n'roll: there's no doubt this is Jazz & Roll. |
