SOS is the brilliant new album from R?n?n. Sos, meaning rest or breather in Irish, is a collection of 8 songs all in Irish composed to guitar. R?n?n worked with a stellar cast of musicians (The Occasionals) on bringing these songs to life: Crowded House?s Nick Seymour (bass), Conor Murray (drums), Stephen Mogerley (double bass), Liam ? Maonla? (keys) and Pete ?Pamf? Ruotolo (guitar). Pete Pamf also produced the album his funk background adding a bounce and a glistening ?sparkle? to the music, that allows it to occupy a place not previously visited by R?n?n. This is certainly not traditional, and while hard to fix one label on the music, it weaves comfortably through rock, pop, folk and funk with a dash of new age/world. |
