After the mischievous Williwaw and the dynamic Cosmic Dance, Julien Alour returns with an album of light and dark tones. Light in the box emerges from the shadows, like a confined idea, contained and simmered, which frees itself, letting new contrasts, volumes and textures appear. For this album, the composer wanted this time the trumpet alone and transparent, on themes with very marked melodies, enveloped by the Fender Rhodes (played by Simon Chivallon), a decisive choice since it is quite rare in a jazz quartet recording, a "pillar" and groovy double bass (Yoni Zelnik), and a pictorial and audacious drum kit (Elie Martin-Charrriere) bringing a modern and unexpected sound. |
