The Tampere-based band Piennar, which plays the folk-pop of songwriter Tiina Koskinen, is a project of experienced musicians, where skillfully composed songs are combined with famous soundscapes and wonderful vocal harmonies. The album is a meritorious collection of carefully considered Finnish pop art, to which the string quartet occasionally brings even Beatles-inspired tones. The lyrics paint out private and public wonders, grievances and softnesses from around the world. The songs co-arranged by the band are folk-pop songs with rich sounds, with bold aromas and beautiful swinging melodies. The lyrics leave room for the listener and do not underline just one meaning. Musically, Piennar has wanted to make bold songs that have been born without forcing the melody and theme of each song. Together, the band has honed the songs with rich arrangements and surprising details. |
