This well known ensemble from Hungary, released their eighth album called Nyolc - 8 - Nyolc, which contains eight instrumental melodies. Five virtuoso multi-instrumentalists play about twenty instruments that they combine in the most different possible ways, guided by only one rule - music! They have always been aiming for creating a coherent flow of music out of their separate pieces. The need for musical "story telling" has increasingly disrupted the framework of folk music and folk music adaptations. Although at the core still faithful to the initial tamburitza base, they surpassed the standard sound settings of the tamburitza orchestra in these eight instrumental compositions. They kept the traditional style of playing, but got rid of the typical roles of instruments in the tamburitza ensemble. They went further, to explore the new sound possibilities of these seemingly simple instruments.
