Bossa Nova is not a style but only a way of playing as years ago was the Afro-Cuban Bop of Gillespie and Machito. It therefore has nothing to do with Jazz styles such as Be-Bop, Cool Jazz, West Coast, Hard Bop. It is only a way of accompanying, which fits very well with the 4/4 Jazz, derived from the Samba and which originated in Brazil during the stay of guitarist Charlie Bird who first adapted it to Jazz themes. Many American musicians including Gillespie, Getz, Brubeck have already recorded some Bossa Nova records. Gianni Basso and Oscar Valdambrini too wanted to follow the trend by adapting this rhythm to famous themes, interpreting songs born as Bossa Nova and writing two original themes born during the preparation of this record.
