The history of Charles Mingus is too vast to be limited to a single 'tribute', so Quintorigo go further along this musical path. The album features eleven tracks that will later be joined by a live project together with Castaldo. The great thing about this band, armed with classical instruments, is their eclecticism, moving from rock to classical to jazz and blues, always changing formation and reinventing themselves. To best render Mingus' pieces on this album, Quintorigo has enlisted the help of Simone Cavina on drums, Alessio Velliscig on vocals and Mauro Ottolini. It is a fine album with an arrangement that also revitalises the genre that for the most part sounds a little stale. |
