The Silva Kallionpaa Quartet is not afraid to test its limits. The group's unique collective sound and formula-breaking expression both touch and challenge listeners universally, regardless of background. Compositions that draw from modern jazz and sometimes end up on undefined paths frame the ensemble's conversational work. The music tells stories, with new nuances emerging with each performance. The six tracks on the album offer engaging and genuinely boldly original contemporary jazz spiced with interesting instrumentation. Kallionpaa's violin is not the most typical jazz band's main instrument, but it positions the band in a rather unique position on the Finnish jazz scene.
