Freeland Barbour comes from Glen Fincastle near Pitlochry in highland Perthshire and has for long been well-known on the Scottish traditional music scene as performer, composer, and radio and record producer. Co-founder of two highly successful ceilidh bands, The Wallochmor Ceilidh Band and The Occasionals, he has also been a member of The Ghillies, Silly Wizard, and the Faroese band Spealimenninir. He was the original accordion tutor on the BA Degree course in Scottish traditional music at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, he designs his own accordions and used to own and manage one of the UK's foremost recording studios, Castlesound in East Lothian. |
