For nearly 15 years, Francois Robin has been engaged in an electroacoustic sound exploration process of his instrument the veuze, bagpipes of the Nantes region within Trafic Sonore, Les Allumes du Chalumeau (with Ronan Le Gourierec), La Circulaire (with Sylvain Girault and Erwan Hamon) or in Comme souffler dans un violoncelle (with Erwan Martinerie). With L'Ombre de la Bete, He entrusts to the Nantes artist Mathias Delplanque the electroacoustic treatment to offer an immersive music dissecting, exploring, triturating the organic sounds of the veuze. The result is a wild epic flirting with krautrock, minimalist music, ambient, drone and traditional music. A unique sound that is alternately stormy and luminous, atmospheric and dancing, summoning altogether the iconographic imagination of Jerome Bosch, the cinematographic universe of David Lynch and the 8-bit digital culture of the 80?s. |
