The Portuguese guitar belongs exclusively to Portugues culture and playing it virtuously has long been one of the most appreciated facets of Lusitanian music. Although the Portuguese guitar is frequently, and correctly, associated to fado, it is also a genre itself. Armandinho was one of the greatest Portuguese guitar players, and his career potential was far from being exhausted when, at the age of 55, he died in Lisbon in 1946. His influence was considerable then and still remains such today.
