Sabir is the first recording of the band 'Free Humans' central project of the Copenhagen based, Italian bass player and composer Luca Curcio. The band gathers some of the most adventurous and unique young voices on the contemporary Jazz and World Music scene in Europe, featuring the legendary Sardinian saxophone player and multi instrumentalist Gavino Murgia. The music of Sabir has been inspired by the name of the ancient Mediterranean ?Lingua Franca?, a mix of all the different languages spoken by the seamen. Just like the language, the music played by the Free Humans is made by echoes, reminiscences and forms from different worlds and cultures, relating and talking to each other through the sensibility of the members of the band. Between jazz, world music, electronic and much more, Sabir is the tale of a journey into places, stories, and faces, with its jumping between the present and an imaginary reality where the concept of border doesn?t exist. |
