The Charkha project brings together 6 musicians in constant search of a collective trance. By following the paths of John Coltrane, Eric Dolphy, Rabih Abou-Khalil, Henri Texier, Hijaz K?r, Kristen Nogu?s or Steve Coleman, Charkha makes a committed, rooted music vibrate, which plays with modality at the confluence of traditional, jazz and contemporary music. The originality of this repertoire is to build around the great texts of 20th century poetry a strong rhythmic setting: the powerful acoustic grooves, the orchestral ardour are at the service of texts sung in Breton, French and English...small pieces of beauty that expose the cruelty of the world. Tensions, effusions, weightlessness, breaches, arid depths and bushy elevations, the universe of Charkha captivates, hypnotizes and stirs the bodies as much as the minds. |
