Player of the bombarde (breton oboe) from a very young age, Gaby Kerdoncuff studied breton music with the players and singers of Kan ha diskan in the centre of Brittany. He then went on to work regularly with jazz musicians and taught himself the trumpet before becoming a professional musician in 1990. This project, live recorded at the Grand Theatre de Lorient, presents compositions by Kerdoncuff, performed by 9 musicians (including himself), the ?Cooperative?, bringing an intimate, light and sophisticated dimension that is rare in Breton music. Inspiration comes both from tradition and improvisation. Individual expressions play an important role in the cooperative, putting a spotlight on the new generation of musicians.
