Sedat Anar based his arrangements on the poems of the mystic philosopher Ahmad Hilmi (1865-1914) who was one of the followers of the sufi religion, in which unity of being is the central theme. The poem A?mak-I Hayal is one of the most important works in sufi literature, and it incorporates elements from other religions, such as Buddhism. The relatively young Sedat (1988, Istanbul) gets his musical inspiration from the Middle East, Iran and Afghanistan; the sadness in his voice and instruments remind us of the Kurdish traditional music. |
