If Celine Bonacina wanted to both surprise and confirm that she is an inventive, sensitive and spectacular baritone saxophonist, she has succeeded in doing just that with her new album, Jump! For the first time in her discography, a particular theme has guided her choice of musicians and writing: a mischievous look back at a childhood love, when, at the dawn of the 90s, she was transcended by listening to American albums by Mickael Brecker, Chick Corea, Dave Grusin and the sound of the GRP label, as well as many others? Today's jazz, as expressed by C?line Bonacina, is always a music "in fusion", energetic, festive and sensitive at the same time. This is demonstrated by the 9 compositions on the album, from Trust, which opens, to My Island Far Away, which closes, but at the end of which the musician's luminous creativity is already ready to take us further afield, perhaps to "her" island of La Reunion, another important port of call in her musical geography.
