Years have passed since the trio Frode Alnęs, Stian Carstensen and Arild Andersen last released a disc together. With steady frequency came the seasonal discs "Sommerbrisen" (1998), "Julegloggen" (2003) and "Hostslov" (2006). Is it because the spring album has been a long time coming? One might wonder, but the fact that they just as well chose to call this year's new release "Varslapp" (Spring Slack) gives a clue ....With "Varslapp", the trio now completes the seasonal project that began 25 years ago. The new release contains alternately playful, powerful, potent and slightly lazy improvisations on well-known spring songs such as "Varsog", "April Love", "Kom mai du skjonne milde" and Grieg's "Varen". |
