Contemporary jazz converges with European art music, forging the nine original pieces into a coherent cycle, almost a speculative suite on musical time. Suspended rhythmic textures, metric displacements and finely chiselled harmonies open onto a rarefied sonic space in which the classical trio of piano, double bass and drums is conceived less as an idiomatic apparatus than as a laboratory of form and colour.
