Trio Aquarela - Jean-Luc Oboman Fillon (oboe, oboe d?amore, English horn); Edu Miranda (Brazilian bandolim); Tuniko Goulart (Brazilian guitar) ? play Brazilian choro music, a style of music developed from the second half of the 19th century. It proceeded styles like samba and bossa nova (and was in fact one of the sources of bossa nova), and is characterized by the virtuosity of its instrumentalists and their mastery of improvisation. Initially an oral tradition style became a major genre in instrumental music, mixing the music of European dances (polka, waltz) with African rhythms. Aquarela stands firmly in this tradition. |
